Why Montessori?

Because as Dr. Maria Montessori believed that the first six years of life were the most important for the development of the human potential, we want to give your child the freedom to explore a variety of challenging materials and concepts as they are capable of understanding within these years.

Our Goal

Our goal is simple. We prepare children for a lifetime of creative thinking and learning. Our directresses are committed to ensuring that your child receives a broad strong academic education in the context of a carefully planned, stimulating environment. Through proven methods, we help children develop the essential foundational habits, attitudes, self esteem, skills and ideas that will shape the way they discover, learn and succeed in life. Research has shown that the best predictor of future success is a positive sense of self-esteem. Our program is based on self-directed, non-competitive activities, helps children develop strong self images and the confidence to face challenges and change with optimism.

Staff

The school is operated by an Early Childood credentialed director.  The support staff has varied levels of training and credentials.  Our director and support staff attend workshops and conferences to update their education and knowledge. We employ people who are warm, nurturing, understanding and educated in child development.  They each apply their knowledge in the classroom and respect children as individuals.  Our staff values working as a team with children, parents, colleagues, and volunteers.

Daily Format

Following the best practices of Montessori education children will have a minimum of 2½ hours of uninterrupted morning work time with additional afternoon work time for the 3-5 year old children.  These work times emphasize the skills that children most need for success in elementary school and beyond.
